Washington – Today, U.S. Representative Gary Peters was pleased to announce that Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson will be visiting Michigan to discuss the importance of constructing proposed customs plazas at high volume trade crossings like the Detroit-Windsor border. Peters, who has been leading efforts for federal funding of the New International Trade Crossing (NITC) customs plaza, invited Secretary Johnson to visit the Northern Border in January and is looking forward to working with the Secretary to make customs plazas in Michigan a national priority.
Detroit – Today, U.S. Representative Gary Peters announced Grace Muawad of Grosse Pointe South High School as the winner of the annual Congressional Art Competition. The event, held this past weekend at the Oak Park City Hall, featured over fifty works of art from local students. Peters congratulated Grace on her outstanding achievement:
Peters Stands with Michigan's Farmers, Consumers and Conservationists - Urges EPA to Support Renewable Fuel Standard04/14/14
Washington, D.C. – In a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator McCarthy last week, U.S. Representative Gary Peters expressed his continued support for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and urged the EPA to reconsider a proposed reduction in ethanol volumes to the RFS. The EPA has recently proposed reducing the amount of ethanol required to be blended into the fuel supply, a move that would hurt Michigan's corn farmers, ethanol producers and biofuel industry.
